Everyone secretly gets the same word — say “pizza”. Everyone except the imposter, who only sees the category (“food”). Each player says one clue word; the imposter has to fake it. Then you talk it out and vote someone out. Catch the imposter and the innocents win; vote out an innocent and the imposter escapes.
A game in 4 steps
- Create a room — one click, no account needed.
- Share the 4-letter code with friends (great on a Discord voice call).
- Give clues — in turn, each player types one word linked to the secret word, for 1 to 5 rounds.
- Discuss & vote — tap who you suspect. The eliminated player's role is revealed.
The roles
- Imposter — doesn't know the word; must blend in and survive the vote.
- Innocent — knows the word; must expose the imposter without giving it away.
- Sleeper (optional) — thinks they're innocent, but their word is slightly off.
- Guesser (optional) — an imposter who can guess the word for bonus points.
- Clown (optional) — an innocent who wins by getting voted out.
- Detective (optional) — sees everyone's votes live, with extra time to decide.
Quick tips
- Innocents: give a clue one step from the word — close enough to prove you know it, far enough that the imposter can't guess it.
- Imposter: go mid-round, echo the theme of earlier clues, and commit with confidence.
